Laboratory systems

We have implemented multiple projects related to Laboratory and Diagnostics result reporting and laboratory and radiology ordering specification. Our system can record, manage, and store data for clinical laboratories.

We have also built fully fledged customized system based on Mirth Connect which is a base operating tool and development platform used for building Client Management Information Systems (CMIS) to Laboratory Information System (LIS) middleware. Mirth is an open source cross-platform HL7 interface and integration (middleware) engine that enables bi-directional sending of HL7 messages between systems and applications over multiple transports. It quickly and easily transport healthcare information between data sources and destinations, facilitates message exchange, filtering, transformation, extraction, and routing. It also supports a variety of connectors such as TCP, HTTP, JDBC, and more.

Also implemented are Health Level 7 commonly referred to as HL7 solutions. HL7 is basically a set of international standards for the transfer of clinical and administrative data between software applications used by different healthcare providers. Standard HL7 versions that we have worked with include 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.3.1, 2.4, 2.5, 3.0. The version 2.3.1+ has several changes to data-types and versioning differences introduce problems in integration tasks. HL7 v2.x messages use a non-XML encoding syntax based on segments (lines) and one-character delimiters while HL7 v3 messages are based on an XML encoding syntax and v3 messaging standard defines a series of Secure Text messages (called interactions) to support all healthcare workflows. Through our implementation experience, we have seen how HL7 fosters a collaborative community that is committed to improving the health of people through technology by allowing data that is in one format to be translated when leaving an Information System and entering a different one in a format that the receiver understands.

The clients we have worked have reported improvement in the digital healthcare experience and health information standards and interoperability. HL7 is mostly used documents covering the transfer of care such as referrals, discharge summaries, progress notes and diagnostic reports from pathology and radiology providers. Undoubtedly HL7 promotes better patient outcomes, facilitating the development of interoperable systems, easy communications between systems, implements cost-effective platforms pertinent to healthcare.

“By and large the information is delivered in a consistent manner to patients and creates best practices for the healthcare community.”
